Talk with your school counselor for guidance before registering for High School Summer School Courses.

IMPORTANT! Student may only register for (1) ONLINE class at a time as online work is intense. Student will need to finish the first course and then receive permission from the summer school principal for a second online course. Talk to your school counselor first to determine which class is best for you.
ALL coursework will be online including the orientation (except for Team Sports and Speech). Testing will be proctored at CTE. Most coursework is completed independently by the student online. However, students are required to report to the CTE Academy for all proctored unit tests as they work through the material during regular Summer School hours Monday-Thursday, 7:30 am – 12:30 pm. The final proctored exam will also be taken at CTE on or before 12:30 pm, July 25, 2024.

Please provide the student’s best email address to send orientation, correspondence and coursework information (that might be the parent's email).

Important Information  - Please Read Prior to Registering- Summer school content presented during the condensed summer school session is equivalent to content presented during a full semester of school. Speech & Team Sports class is worth 0.5 credit and students are expected to attend EVERY class. If a student misses more than 2 classes, the student will be dropped from the course with an "F" grade. Students will not be excused for family vacations, camps or similar activities. Students who cannot commit to the required days for summer school should not register. Students who enroll in summer school must be able to benefit from instructional activities presented in groups with a ratio of 1 teacher to 20 or more students.  Most coursework is completed independently by the student online. Speak with your school counselor to determine which course is right for you. One course is allowed at a time (with the exception of Speech or Team Sports, one of which may be taken simultaneously with permission from your counselor).

Students can register for Speech or Team Sports in addition to one online course at a time during the 8-week summer session. If all required work is completed in a shorter time frame, the student may receive permission from the summer school teacher and principal to take a second online course.

Online coursework is not compatible with iPad. Internet connection is needed. Computers are available for student use at CTE.  Monday - Thursday from 7:30a-12:30p.

Teachers will be available during the following days/hours for subject instruction, unit tests, and final tests: Monday through Thursday 7:30am to 12:30pm at CTE - Career and Technical Education Academy, 4700 W Career Circle, Sioux Falls. Buildings will be closed Thursday, July 4th.

There will be NO REFUNDS unless a course is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. Students who qualify for free and reduced lunch rate receive a discount on summer school registration. Student will need to choose Reduced Fee or Free Fee when registering. Lunch status will be verified through the district's Child Nutrition Office. Students who are currently enrolled in the Sioux Falls School District 49-5 will register as an District Student.

Online Coursework:  Not compatible with iPad. Orientation for students enrolling in online classes for summer school will be done via email from your summer school teacher on or before Monday, June 3rd. The subject line of this email will read "Welcome to Summer School 2024" and will include your user name and password to begin your course. Be sure to provide student’s best email, so they receive orientation information and other Summer School correspondence.  If you have not received an email contact from your summer school teacher by the end of the day on Monday, June 3rd, please call the CTE Academy at 367-5504 for more information.

2024 High School Summer School Fees: $190 Standard. $145 Reduced Lunch. $115 Free Lunch.  $280 Out of District.
